Spring 2008
After what seemed like a Winter Break gone too soon, Palomar College students and faculty members were back on campus to kick off the 2008 spring semester, which began on January 22.
The semester began with the much anticipated Welcome Days, which is geared towards greeting new and returning students with free entertainment, food and school info. Many school organizations and clubs recruited interested students and handed out goody bags and free gear, while other private companies, such as 24-Hour Fitness and the North County Transit District gave students information about their companies.
After Welcome Days came and went and the battle for parking spaces in the morning became less chaotic, many students settled into the semester routine. However, for many students, fast track classes offered a much faster way at getting through the grindstone of many classes. According to the counseling department, many students choose these short eight week courses because of their busy schedules in order to get through courses quickly. The first session began on January 22, the same day as regular classes, with hundreds of students enrolling. However, if others want to participate in fast track classes, there is another session beginning on March 31.
People can also enroll in late start classes if they missed registration for the regular term. Late start classes are offered in March, April and even May for the same price as regular classes.
For regular, full-time students, the normal 16-week schedule will run from January 22 to May 23. Of course many students are looking forward to Spring Break, which will run from March 24 to March 30. Final exams will be held from May 17 to May 23. All final exams are scheduled for designated times that are different than their regular class schedule. Students should look on Palomar’s website or ask their teachers for the modified final exam schedule. SMM
